A Poem

Nelson Linscott

Mother

Broken young, dying day by day
At the sink too high to reach
By stature
And the weight of the Thumb
Crushing your spine and spirit
Six hungry for love birds chirping
At your feet
Ringing in your ears as you labored
Gasping, Wishing
For the End.
