Chasing The Spotless Mind

In your head

In order to experience true inner peace, all painful memories from the past must be eradicated. Never to be recounted again.

The following album is the representation of this belief. The attempt to achieve a spotless mind, of eternal bliss.

The film used for this project is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), and the final six photos within the album are representation of the misé-en-scene within the film, and utilize the characterization of Joel and his belief that to purge unpleasant and unwanted memories from the past will help him to finally become at peace with himself.

  • A drive to clear the head. Intrusive thoughts of a self memory wipe creep in.
  • Boarding a train in the opposite direction to work, towards Lacuna.
  • Gazing out the window, on the way back from Lacuna. Memory wipe happens tonight.
  • A crude apparatus jabbed into the flesh. The memory wipe begins.
  • Awakening from a deep sleep. Feels like something is missing, but no idea what.
